As part of the local government’s commitment to help grow Albuquerque’s small businesses, Mayor Richard J. Berry held the first business development meeting in the city earlier this June. According to Albuquerque Business First reporter Dan Mayfield, the meeting was part of Albuquerque’s Living Cities Integration Initiative, an alliance with various foundations and other states like Arizona and Colorado. During the meeting, some local entrepreneurs complained that lack of access to capital makes it difficult for them to do business.
State programs like the New Mexico Small Business Assistance (NMSBA) Program exist to provide much-needed financial help to these businesses. Alone, however, the NMSBA can’t help all small and medium enterprises make ends meet.
Companies can also help themselves by making the right decisions when it comes to obtaining the equipment necessary for day-to-day operations. For instance, rather than purchase their own printers, companies can opt for reliable printer leasing services from a reputable document managing company like Albuquerque Image Products. Even companies with sufficient financial means are often better off leasing office equipment for a number of reasons.
First, leasing is more tax efficient as it can be considered a deductible business expense, which translates to even more savings. Second, leasing is very flexible as it gives entrepreneurs multiple payment options and loan terms that can be negotiated with the vendor. Third, leasing gives business owners access to the latest printers but at a fraction of the cost of a full purchase. In case any equipment fails to meet their standards, business owners can simply lease another printer with no repercussions.
Entrepreneurs also have to think about their printer choices carefully and consider all related expenses including ink, paper, and electricity. Likewise, they need to take into account printing volume, quality, and frequency to determine the right printer. For example, a company that prints a lot of documents every day may want to lease inkjet rather than laser printers given that the latter require fuser cartridge replacements rather than simple ink refills. That said, laser printers still provide the best color quality, which makes them a must-have for visual design and photography companies.
In addition, Albuquerque printer leasing companies can provide other equipment like scanners and photocopiers. These days, a lot of companies opt to lease a multipurpose printer (MFP) to save on space, among other things. Indeed, small decisions like this can help local businesses overcome the odds, despite the lack of capital.
